My favorite time of year at the farm (in the sticks of Georgia) is fall. The early evening sun ignites the sky over the barn and fields in an array of colors that cause you to hold your breath without you realizing it. But just as quickly as the colors appear, the horizon pulls them down, bringing a hush over the landscape and cattle. If you step away from the windows for too long you miss it, but the best place to witness God’s beautiful light show is outdoors. Nature provides inspiration for the creative mind, which leads me to October’s featured artist Luke Allsbrook.
October’s Artist:
Luke Allsbrook is a Christian painter who lives in the mountains of North Carolina. Some of his paintings illustrate a beauty in the abandoned. An old empty barn, a broken fence, a heap of rusted farming equipment… all ordinary, yet alluring in the story they tell, and the nostalgia they create in the heart of the observer. His hazy reflections take us back to nature, back to simpler times, and for some of us…back home again.
